Point A Rally (PAR) Scoring System
At the Annual General Meeting of The Bedfordshire Squash Rackets Association discussion took place regarding the above subject.
Point a rally scoring was adopted officially by England Squash & Racketball in April 2009, following the lead of The World Squash Federation. The PAR scoring system has been introduced into all World, National and County events, but is not mandatory at club level.
The system for the singles game is simply that points are scored at the end of each rally rather than the Hand In, Hand Out system which requires a player to win the service before being able to win a point. The system is played to either 11 or 15 points per game, a match being the best of five games.
The game total is set by the organising body.
In the event of the game score reaching 10 or 14 all, a player must then win by 2 points. It is not unusual to see some game scores reaching into the high teens before this is achieved, although the average game time is not vastly extended.
The Bedfordshire Squash Rackets Association passed a resolution officially adopting the PAR15 system for all Inter County matches, County competitions (Beds Closed) and Team League matches.
Therefore, all Beds SRA League matches, from 2009/2010 season onwards will be played to the PAR15 system.
We recommend if you wish to examine the rules regarding PAR scoring that you might refer to the World Squash Federation website www.squash.org where you can look at the scoring rules that came into practice in April this year. At this moment in time, the new England Squash & Racketball website has no information with regard to this.
