The Bedfordshire men's county team were in action on the 19th and 20th January. This was first weekend with the new format in place, whereby all the counties (apart from the Premier league sides) are placed in the same draw for the first round. The matches are now held at two central venues in the North and South of the county.

Having ended the previous season in Division 2 of the pyramid, on paper at least, the new format would have suggested that Beds could be in for a tough time with some potential Division 1 sides to compete against.

As it turned out the side of Gbenga Adeyi, Steve Davies, Nathan Derrick, Owen Ledger and Jay Ledger gave an excellent account of themselves and finished 2nd in the group. In previous years that would have been enough to advance into the promotion weekend but under the new structure, unfortunately only the top side goes through. We will just have to go one better next year!

Results:

Beds beat Wiltshire 5-0
Beds Lost to Avon 4-1
Beds beat Norfolk 3- 2
