                                                                                5th November 2016

Having previously been in division 2b of the county system a restructure saw this year’s competition regionalised and as a result Beds drew two tough opponents in Bucks and Berks who had previously been in higher divisions.

Beds played Bucks first and despite a 5-0 defeat the matches were pretty competitive and the team perhaps felt like they could have got more from this match. Ben Shakespeare's match was the highlight with him narrowly losing out to Tom Phipps 3-2.

The second match against Berks was as close as it got and Beds came within a whisker of pulling off a surprise victory. Nathan Derrick and Bruce St Leger recorded excellent 3-0 wins. Will Montgomery then lost at number 5 string and it was down to either Ben Shakespeare or Steve Davies to seal the win. Two close matches however, resulted in two 3-2 defeats and victory to Berkshire.

The Beds squad was: Steve Davies, Nathan Derrick, Ben Shakespeare, Bruce St Leger, Will Montgomery and Gary Milner. The match was played at Mowsbury and those that came to watch enjoyed some good squash. Stage 2 will be held on February 25th and details of the venue will appear on this site prior to the fixture.
