O45 County Squash October 2017
Host Venue: Hithercroft SRC
Beds made a good start to the weekend beating hosts Oxfordshire with the loss of just two games but came up against stiffer opposition in the afternoon against Berkshire, losing 4-1 but with some closely contested matches which could easily have gone the other way.
Sadly, Beds lost 5-0 on the Sunday to a fresh legged Warwickshire side able to draw from a strong squad of 10 but again, the team score does not do justice to the fight put up by the Beds players, Matt Towers in particular who lost an epic second string battle 13-15 in the fifth – good effort Matt!
Thanks to all the players for turning out including Richard Carr at 1, Matt Towers at 2, Bruce St Leger at 3, Ian Thomas at 4, an injured Steve Barlow at 5 and substitute for Steve against Warwickshire, Julian Cooper. Thanks also to the strong support offered by injured number 1 Nick Lavery who spent his entire Saturday cheering on his team mates – great effort Nick!
