This email will advertise any tournaments, events, workshops and job vacancies in our area, therefore if you are organising a tournament or event and you would like it advertising then simply send me the details and I will add this to the next update due to be sent every Friday.

Cambridgeshire U15's at the County Finals. Cambridgeshire boys Sammy Chambers, Peter Dickinson, Daniel McGinn, Declan Osborne & Robert Dadds all travelled to Manchester this weekend to compete in the National County Finals. They met Gloucestershire in the semi finals and played well to get to the finals by winning 4-1. When in the final they came up aginst a strong Surrey side and after a well fought match came out on top, winning 4-1! In the U19's competition the Nottinghamshire boys were victorious after overcoming Hertfordshire in the Final. Congratulations to all the Mid East players who took part and this is a fantastic outcome for the area.
 
South East Staffs Sporting Showcase. Sunday 21st May, Burton Albion - Pirreilli Stadium, 10:00am - 3.30pm. The 2006 Sporting Showcase has been organised around the generic sports workshops of Good Practice and Child Protection, Succesful Funding Applications and 1st Aid and others. If you are looking to increase your knowledge by learning new skills and gaining new ideas then this showcase will be helpful. Nottinghamshire PE & Sports Conference 2006. Is taking place on the 26th June at Nottingham Trent University, Clifton, Nottingham. The Nottinghamshire PE and Sport Conference is now in its fifth year and is recognised as a significant quality professional event supporting those involved in delivering and organising physical education and sport. The conference programme reflects and incorporates delegate's views and suggestions from last year.The organising committee hope you find the conference informative as well as beneficial in providing you with ideas and resources that you can replicate in your sporting environment. New for this year is the 'Networking Session' where you will be able to hear about some innovative practice and share ideas with other professional colleagues. Funding
 
Awards For All.

Earlier this month Sport England announced the launch of the increased upper and lower limits for Awards. From today, groups can apply for as little as £300 to as much as £10,000. The Awards for All scheme aims to provide funding to small, local organisations to encourage people to take part in community activities. The scheme has also updated its regional focus with outcomes specific to your area, you can view these on the new Awards for All website (www.awardsforall.org.uk), which has a new look and updated content. You can also download an application to apply for the increased amounts. Nottinghamshire Coach Scholarship Awards. The Nottinghamshire coach scholarship fund has been developed to encourage volunteers and unqualified coaches into coaching as well as helping qualified coaches progress. Therefore the fund is available to potential coaches wishing to take their first award (eg Level 1), current coaches wishing to take their next level (eg level 2, 3 and 4) or coaches wishing to attend courses or conferences to improve their coaching. This is a great opportunity to gain help to improve your coaching, for an information sheet please email craig.barratt@englandsquash.com
 
Funding In Cambridgeshire. The Cambridgeshire Sports Partnership understand how much clubs and coaches rely on funding to operate and we are delighted to bring you news of an exciting new skills development bursary, available through SkillsActive and the Nancy Ovens Trust.
    The bursary, sponsored by SkillsActive and awarded by the Nancy Ovens Trust, is aimed at paid or voluntary coaches and leaders who work with children and young people in the active leisure and learning sector. The bursary will be awarded to a coach or leader to allow them to enhance their own skills and knowledge by taking part in studies, work experience or activities outside of their community.
    The bursary is worth up to £2,500 and can be used by the selected individual to undertake an alternative work experience or training within the UK or EU. The maximum length of the work experience is to be two months. The Nancy Ovens Trust and SkillsActive will appoint a mentor for the period of the bursary.
