Steve Barlow takes Bedfordshire squash title.

On Sunday 29th April at Club Squash, Luton Steve Barlow became Bedfordshire County Squash Champion for the 5th time.

Steve’s opponent was Steven Davies from Luton.  Steven (21) is currently studying at Hull University but commuted to Bedfordshire to enter the tournament.  The final was a very close affair, with fortunes ebbing and flowing.  The best of 5 games took around 1 hour 20 minutes with the scores in the games being 10-9, 9-10, 9-7, 7-9, 9-1.

Despite a partisan crowd and a considerable age difference Steve Barlow managed to stay with the fast and furious pace of the match, but he needed all his experience and match guile to win through.

Steve Barlow has dominated Bedfordshire squash for many years now, both on the court and through coaching and voluntary work.

This result provides an ideal launch pad for the Squash Marathon charity event to be held at Mowsbury on the weekend of the 18/19 May. The event has been planned and organised by Steve Barlow and Aaron Faith and will raise money for the Primrose Appeal and the NSPCC.
